Following our last update on the 5th August, discussions have continued with Water UK (and through them, with Defra and the water companies) it still appears for now, that the information passed on by our industry (and other industries using water) back in 2012, remains largely in place today.
The Temporary Use Bans are in place in areas covered by the Isle of Man (from 29th July 2022), Southern Water (from Friday 5th August), South East Water (from Friday 12th August) and Welsh Water (from Friday 19th August 2022). Thames Water are also to introduce a ban, but no dates have been set as of the date of this update.
The TUB implemented by Welsh Water covers Pembrokeshire and a small part of Carmarthenshire (and Welsh Water is the only water company currentlystating that hot tubs are part of the hosepipe ban and BISHTA are seeking clarification on this).
There are two main levels of restriction that members need to be aware of:
• Temporary Water Use Bans (TUBS) – mainly affecting domestic customers in the first instance
• Ordinary drought orders
The relevant member factsheet on ‘water conservation’ (M1007) has been updated today. Please read it to familiarise yourselves with any changes (in the purple font).
